Sandy is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and is board-certified in psychiatry and mental health (PMHNP-BC). Sandy has also been a registered nurse since 1991. She has worked in a wide variety of areas of health care (orthopedics, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, hospice and palliative care). Her diverse background informs her practice of psychiatry and mental health care. She has completed her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.

As an advanced practice nurse, Sandy is committed to providing holistic, patient-centered, and evidenced-based care. Sandy believes strongly in an integrated model of care, and works in partnership with clients, other healthcare providers and psychotherapists to achieve the best outcomes. Sandy keeps up with the latest research by attending conferences and improving psychotherapy skills with continued training.

Prior to taking over this private practice Sandy worked full time at Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. In this private practice, Sandy provides care to adults (age 18 to 70).

Sandy is a practicing Christian and is open to talking about faith. Sandy treats patients of all faiths and beliefs, bringing a Christian perspective to an individual’s treatment plan when appropriate.  Your religious beliefs may or may not come up in discussions. 

A PMHNP can assess, diagnose, and treat patients with psychiatric disorders including the prescription of medications and administration of psychotherapy. PMHNP’s provide a full range of psychiatric and mental health services including: 

  • Diagnosing and treating psychiatric/mental health conditions

  • Prescribing medications and treatments

  • Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests

  • Developing and managing individualized treatment plans for patients

  • Patient education
